There Will Be Rest | New Music & Reimagined Hymns by Blake Flattley
"There Will Be Rest" is a collection of new music and reimagined hymns inspired by his experiences in New York City and his upbringing in the church.
Blake moved to New York to join the staff of Our Saviour New York in the spring of 2013 and it has turned out to be, as expected, one of the most interesting, creative and diverse places he has ever lived and worked. Prior to arriving in New York City, Blake was the lead singer of the Orange Effect as well as releasing albums under the name Graffiti Cathedral. Yet despite a deep faith and years of worship leading, Blake never felt a desire to recorded an explicitly Christian full-length album. Until now.
Over the course of the last two years, Blake has had the opportunity to lead a diverse group of people in worship and song week after week at OSNY. He has been arranging hymns and writing new music to be sung specifically in this diverse context and now, more than ever, feels led to release an album that will connect with the people in his community and ideally benefit the global Church. “There Will Be Rest” is an album of sacred music—songs written for people to use in private or corporate worship. But don’t expect your typical Christian radio praise tune. Far from it. To get a sneak peek you can stream the entire album on his website for a limited time pre-release.
