The Urban Orchard

Life in a global city is often difficult. Amid the glory of culture and opportunity is the lure of things like bitterness, impatience, anger and envy. Thankfully God has promised certain gifts to his people. Saved by the grace of His Son, God gives us His own Holy Spirit which fills us and slowly but surely works “fruit” in us. This fruit of God’s Spirit is meant to sustain us in our urban life but also to ordain, enrich and beautify our urban existence. You could say that churches are called to be urban orchards: clusters of fruit that bring beauty and blessing an amazing but sometimes dark and draining city. In this series we will look at each “fruit of the spirit” and examine how they counter balance a particular trial or temptation in urban living.
